Simply a Christian is someone who has repented of their sin through the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and seeks to follow Him for the rest of their life, being obedient to Christs purposes.
Someone who has made such a choice knows God personally through his son, Jesus. Christians believe that everyone is separated from God as result of what the Bible calls sin. Jesus gave himself for us on a cross and died so that we are able to know God personally. Through His death we can receive forgiveness for all the things that we have done wrong in the past and we are given a hope for the future.
If we accept that we have done wrong and this is a problem that separates us from God, we are a ‘sinner.’Then if we believe that Jesus is the only one who can do anything about this problem, we can make a choice that confesses our need for Him to put things right. If we accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Saviour and put our trust in Him, we become part of God’s family and have an eternal future with God in heaven.
God has promised to be with us through our earthly lives and will help us to follow His ways – · through the Holy Spirit – God’s presence · the Bible – God’s word · and the church – God’s family.
